EXP1: Before the first class

 My Original Work

Screen captures from a film appropriation of Tim Burton's poem the Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy which I made for a presentation in year 12. I intended the colour scheme to reflect the morbid yet disturbingly nursery rhyme-like nature of the poem using bright but greyish oranges, blues and greens. The caricatures of the adults further reinforce this idea that the story takes place in a child's world, yet it ironically deals with death which is traditionally considered by adults. I admire Tim Burton's way of mixing seemingly paradoxical elements to create humour.

An Image of A Great Piece of Architecture

This is the museum for the Japanese anime film company Studio Ghibli. The museum's name in Japanese means "Mitaka Forest Ghibli Museum" and it's motto is "Let's get lost together" and together these define the look and feel of the museum. Breaking from traditional elements of a museum where the architecture is quite bare so as not to distract from the displays, the museum itself here is the artwork. With its winding little passageways, caged stairs and elevators and doors which only children can comfortably fit through it truly feels like you are lost in a magical cartoon forest.

Original Photo of Something Beautiful

This photo is of my little dog Zoe taken from the front of my parents house looking over Kiama. We don't know what breed she is as we rescued her from the RSPCA as a puppy. She likes pig's ears and long swims in the pool.
